Silent Spring Institute Office (from Boston)
Take Mass Pike West, through a tollbooth, to Exit 17, Watertown/Newton. Head straight passing through the light at the end of the exit ramp, following sign to Newton. You will be on Washington Street. Get into the right-hand lane on Washington Street and follow the sign for West Newton. At the first fork do not bear left – stay straight on Washington Street. You will pass a series of car dealerships on the right with the Mass Pike running parallel to you on the left. Go straight for about ¾ mile, past large brick church complex on your right, to a traffic light at Crafts Street, which is on the right with a Whole Foods supermarket on the corner. Turn right onto Crafts Street.
29 Crafts Street or “Chatham Center” is a brick office building on the right. The entrance to the building parking is on the right immediately after the building entrance. Silent Spring Institute is the first suite on the right coming in through the front door.

Take 93 North towards Boston to the Massachusetts Turnpike.

Silent Spring Institute Office from the West
Take the Massachusetts Turnpike to Exit 17, Newton/Watertown Exit.
At the end of the off-ramp is a stop sign. At the intersection, merge with traffic and move into the far left lane, keeping to the left through the next traffic light. When you are on a bridge crossing the Mass Turnpike, you will want to be in one of the center lanes. Do not take the far left lanes, which will take you back onto the Mass Turnpike; or the far right lanes, which will take you straight onto Galen Street and Watertown. In between these two options from the center lanes of the bridge you bear left following signs for West Newton. Once you bear left you should be on Washington Street. Get into the right-hand lane on Washington Street and follow the signs for West Newton. At the first fork do not bear left – stay on Washington Street. You should pass a series of car dealerships on the right with the Mass Pike running parallel to you on the left. Go straight for about ¾ mile, past the large brick church complex on your right, to a traffic light at Crafts Street, with a Whole Foods supermarket on the corner. Turn right onto Crafts Street.

Silent Spring Institute from Cambridge/Somerville
From Cambridge/Somerville areas, get onto Massachusetts Ave. going south toward Harvard Square (i.e. in the direction from Porter to Harvard Squares). As you enter the heart of Harvard Square (Harvard Coop on right, Out of Town News on left), all traffic bears right. You will then have opportunities to bear left or turn right or left – DO NOT take either of them. When you get to a traffic light and cannot proceed further forward (see Charles Hotel in front of you to right, Dutch Flower Garden and other stores on left), turn left. Go one block to the next light, you can’t continue forward anymore, and turn right onto JFK Street. Go straight through the light and over the Charles River bridge. Turn right immediately after the bridge onto Storrow Drive, heading west, which becomes Soldier’s Field Road heading towards Newton. Continue on Soldier’s Field Road, along the Charles River, toward Newton for a few miles. After passing athletic fields and an ice skating rink on the right, there will be a left fork with a sign for the Mass. Pike. Take that fork and follow traffic around several twists and turns until you get onto the bridge crossing the Mass Turnpike. On the bridge you will want to be in one of the center lanes. Do not take the far left lanes, which will take you onto the Mass Turnpike; or the far right lanes, which will take you straight onto Galen Street and Watertown. In between these two options-- from the center lanes of the bridge -- you bear left following signs for West Newton. Once you bear left you should be on Washington Street. Silent Spring Institute from Inman Square or Union Square areas of Cambridge/Somerville
Take Prospect Street towards Central Square. Continue forward across Mass. Ave. (Prospect become Western Ave.) until you get to the Charles River (about a mile). Cross the river and take a left immediately over the river, following signs for the Mass. Pike. Get on the Mass. Pike west, toward Newton.

Silent Spring Institute Office via bus
From Downtown Crossing (at Federal Street) to Newton Corner, take Express bus #504. From Kenmore Square to Newton Corner, take Watertown bus #57. From Copley Square to Newton Corner, take Watertown bus #502 or #504. These buses let you off at Newton Corner. It is about a 15 min walk down Washington Street to Crafts Street which will be on your right just before Whole Foods.
You can also take express buses #553/554 or #556/558 to Newton Corner. These buses will go to Newton Corner then continue on to Washington Street – you pass by a large brick church on the right. Crafts Street is one block down also on the right, directly opposite the Frost Motors car dealership.
Silent Spring Institute is one block from Washington Street – 29 Crafts Street – brick office building on the right (Chatham Center).
Silent Spring Institute Office via the “T”
Take the green line (“D” line to Riverside) and get off at Newton Highlands. Go up the ramp to Walnut Street (stay on the same side of the street) and take the #59 bus to the corner of Walnut Street and Washington Street. (There are taxis waiting at the “T” stop, if you choose not to take a bus)
When you exit the bus at Walnut/Washington Streets, you need to stay on Washington Street going toward Newton Corner (heading east) past Dunkin Donuts which will be on your left. Silent Spring Institute Office via commuter rail
Take the Framingham/Worcester train from either South Station or Back Bay Station outbound to the Newtonville stop. (This train stops in Newtonville several times during midday. Check schedule.) After disembarking the train, head east along the platform to the stairs up to Harvard Street. Turn left on Havard and walk a short distance to Washington Street. Turn right and walk east on Washington, past Whole Foods on the left to Crafts Street. Turn left. Silent Spring Institute is located on the first floor of 29 Crafts Street, or Chatham Center, a brick building on the right (east) side of the street.
